Dawson really wanted to go to the zoo for his birthday so we made it happen! We were so happy that grandma and grandpa could come along too. It was a hot day, as you can see from our rosey cheeks. We’re totally wimps when it comes to the heat. I’m not sure how we ever survived a summer in Tucson! Speaking of Tucson, it’s funny how you look back on a place or memory and realize how much you truly loved it, even though at the time it was hard. I’ve thought a lot about our time in Tucson and our life as a military family. The memories are bittersweet but mostly sweet. We grew so much in that short time and learned to love each other so deeply. I’ll always be grateful for that time in our lives.
We’ve been wanting to take our kids on a little outing to Temple Square all summer. Kellen’s sister and her sweet family came up this weekend and we finally got around to it! We were so glad they invited us along. It’s such a beautiful, special place. We were more than happy to share it with our kids! After walking around we wanted to get a picture of the whole family in front of the temple. I set my camera on the stroller with the self timer and ran. We ended up with a nice double chin shot of everyone ha! The sweetest girl saw our struggle and offered to take a picture for us. I always leave the temple feeling uplifted. Even if it’s just a quick walk around the grounds where my three year old nearly jumps in the water feature ha! We can’t wait to go back around Christmastime to see all the lights!
If you haven’t noticed by now, our little family loves bikes. For Dawson’s birthday grandma and grandpa got him a balance bike. Sadly, it disappeared when we went out of town for the weekend. He never really had the chance to learn how to ride it. So we decided instead of replacing the balance bike we’d invest in a bike he could ride for a few years. Today he went to pick it out with his Daddy. The way his little face lit up learning to ride it was priceless. He rode it around and around the driveway and then down to the end of the street. He even took it off a little jump! (there’s a picture of it on instagram) We are a bike family through and through!
