Dawson really wanted to go to the zoo for his birthday so we made it happen! We were so happy that grandma and grandpa could come along too. It was a hot day, as you can see from our rosey cheeks. We’re totally wimps when it comes to the heat. I’m not sure how we ever survived a summer in Tucson! Speaking of Tucson, it’s funny how you look back on a place or memory and realize how much you truly loved it, even though at the time it was hard. I’ve thought a lot about our time in Tucson and our life as a military family. The memories are bittersweet but mostly sweet. We grew so much in that short time and learned to love each other so deeply. I’ll always be grateful for that time in our lives.
Alllll the way back in April we had Dawson in soccer. Seeing that little boy in his soccer clothes gives me all the heart eyes. I’ve been dreaming of my little soccer player from the day we found out we were having a boy! This was Dawson’s third session of soccer. The first two he spent aimlessly wandering around the field picking grass or holding on tight to his coach’s leg. This time was no different ha! I was sure that his competitive side would shine through. We even tried bribing him multiple times to kick the ball or run down the field with his team. But he was totally content to just chill on the field and occasionally get in a wrestling match with his little friend Hank on the team. During one of the games he and Hank decided to gang up on the biggest kid on the opposing team and shove him to the ground. They were unsuccessful but I about died laughing as the they went after him with their jerseys up over their heads hahaha boys!!
This warm weather has had us outside as much as possible! I didn’t realize how cooped up we were all feeling until that first day out this spring. Now we can’t get enough of our walks to the bike shop and play dates at the park. Kellen built a
little bike ramp behind the house and the kids have been loving it. Me on the other hand, not loving the mini heart attack every time one of the kids runs up it! I just see visions of broken bones. Tonight we played and played until the sun went down. Dawson’s learning how to ride his bike without training wheels! It’s been lots of practice but I think he’ll catch onto it soon! Spring, I love you!!
